She's Here!
As most of you may know, Lorraine Ivory Denney made her debut April 2. She was born at 1:08 am weighing 8 lbs. 1 oz. and was 21 3/4 in. long. Her delivery ended up coming quickly, after 5 days of contractions for Julie. It was a very wonderful experience overall, despite Julie's meds wearing off before she delivered. Joseph and Emery seem to be dealing with the transition very well. Joseph was aware of what was going on, and was extremely excited. It was a bit of a shock for Emery to actually see Lorraine, but she adores her now and always wants to see her, help her or hold her. Here are our best photos from her first week.
So far Lorraine has proven to be a great baby. Julie and Aaron are able to go to bed shortly after 10 or 10:30, and she'll wake up to eat right before 2. Then she'll usually go for another 2-3 hours before waking up again. She's getting used to sleeping in a bassinet, although she does love to snuggle with Aaron. Then she sleeps in til around 7:30/8. It's been a really awesome transition, and Aaron has 2 more weeks off of work to help things smooth out. Thank you for all of your congratulations and thoughts. We're so glad Lorraine is finally here, and are enjoying her every day!

Baby on the way
Before we know it, our newest addition will be here! So I figured I should give a general update status about us before things get crazy and it's even longer until our next post!
Aaron is doing really well, although he's not currently signed up for teaching next year. We have to wait for the budgets to be panned out. First the state, then the local. Education budgets aren't so great right now, but we're hopeful that he'll still have a place. Please keep us in your thoughts in this regard. We don't want to move, or deal with losing his job, (especially with a new baby) but you never know what's in store. But we certainly would appreciate the thoughts and prayers!
Julie is very pregnant (due in 1 week) and ready for the baby to be born. Her name is to be Lorraine Ivory Denney. We're very excited for her to join us. Especially Joseph and Emery. They are very excited for her to come home with us and to be able to see her. Julie has been teaching piano lessons (to 1 student) since last September. But once her "maternity leave" is over, she'll have 3 students! She is super excited and enjoys teaching piano tons! She's also excited to be able to get exercising once her time is up, and begin running again. (Which she was doing last summer.)
Joseph is growing up so fast! He's been enjoying his preschool group, and has been doing school at home with Julie too. He is a beginning reader, and does really well! He's also a pretty good writer, and enjoys finding new words to write. (His latest ones were Boba Fett and Bounty Hunter. Thank you Star Wars books from the library.) He's very eager for spring to be here so he can ride his bike outside and play at parks. He's also prepared for Lorraine to join us and absolutely loves the idea of a new baby. We just know he's going to be a very doting big brother.
Emery is quite the spit-fire sometimes. She's a tall, skinny almost-2 year old. Over the last 5 months or so, her vocabulary has sky-rocketed. She now speaks in 3-4 word sentences and is constantly trying to say new words, or adding new ones to her vocab. She adores Joseph and they play together often, and pretty well considering the age difference. Emery also loves babies, and we're hoping she'll transfer all that love to Lorraine when she's born. We think she will. She seems to have some idea that there's a baby in here, and has asked before for "baby out". She loves looking at the baby clothes and blankets. She'll probably become quite the big helper once Lorraine is born. Emery has also learned her colors, and counts to 10.
Lorraine is due in 1 week. (For those who don't know, Lorraine's name comes from Julie's paternal Grandma.) We're so excited for her to join our family. The pregnancy has gone so fast, as we're just busy people. Julie's mom arrives tomorrow to spend 2 weeks with us to prepare, and help out after Lorraine is born. The kids are super excited about grandma coming!

2010 in Review
Tons has happened this year. I've put together a bunch of pictures from throughout the entire year to highlight what we've done and just to show what cute kids we have. :) But here's a quick tidbit about what's happened.
Aaron has finished his first and started his second year teaching high school. His second year was a step up from last year, no longer teaching at 2 schools, and having less lesson plans to prepare. It's made things significantly easier for him, which is great! He's been working a second job, called Montana Digital Academy, which is an online high school. It's been a great source of income. He still moonlights at Sears for holidays and weekends from time to time. He's continued biking to work, except when the weather is especially nasty, so we can have the car at home. It's been a real sacrifice for him, but he enjoys the exercise and our grattitude. :)
Julie has continued to push herself as a stay at home mom this past year. She's continued doing some homeschooling with Joseph. In September she started teaching piano lessons. She only has one student, but has enjoyed it immensely. Especially since they now have their own piano. She found out over the summer that she was pregnant and now has 8 weeks until the arrival of their second little girl. Her due date is April 1st. She's also been involved in a preschool group with 4-5 kids. She takes turns with the other moms teaching lessons twice a week.
Joseph is growing fast as ever. He's begun reading, improving his writing, mastered addition (as long as the answer isn't more than 10.), and is certainly ready for kindergarten. Whether his parents are or not. He's a great big brother to Emery. Lately when she gets mad at Julie and Aaron's not home, she goes to him for hugs and comfort. It's pretty cute. He's very gentle and tender with her. Although Joseph wasn't initially excited for a baby sister, he's now on board and pretty excited for her to come.
Emery has grown in leaps and bounds this past year. She's mastered walking, running, eating on her own, she's beginning to dress herself, she's learning new words every day, and she now mimics pretty much every task Julie does during the day. She's quite the helper. She adores babies, so we're hoping that the initial transition to 3 kids will be a bit easier as far as competition is concerned. If anything, she'll want to claim her sister as her own, and now share her. :) Emery is independent, she is a bit of a drama queen from time to time, loves the color blue, baths, and chocolate.
This year is looking to be a great year. We're expecting our new baby girl in about 8 weeks (no, no name yet.), as well as the arrival of Julie's mom for 2 weeks to help and visit. We're hopeful that Aaron will be able to sign his 3rd contract year with Glacier High School, and possibly move into a slightly bigger place. (Julie's hoping for 3 bedrooms!) We'll do our best to continue and share our events with you and keep you a part of our lives. Here are a bunch of pictures from throughout the year.
